About Bob

Bob Levey has owned Independent Events & Media (IEM), since 1994. Providing turnkey golf tournament management services and marketing/sponsorship counsel in the golf industry, IEM is in its’ 30th year. He has produced more than 440 charity golf tournaments that have netted local and national charities more than $50 million.  IEM has earned a solid reputation for being an invaluable resource to organizations requiring flawless event execution within budget.  In addition, Levey brings to each organization new ways of fundraising, promoting and engaging donors through golf tournaments, preserving a foundation’s staff and board members’ time for other priorities.

Levey earned his bachelor’s degree in Sports Management at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, followed by internships with the New England Patriots and the New Boston Garden Corporation.  His move to the West Coast came after being recruited for the Los Angeles Olympic Committee for the 1984 Olympics, serving as the Media Credentials Coordinator for the Games, as well as member of the editing staff of the LAOC’s Final Report.  

Levey’s roots in golf event fundraising were nurtured while serving as Director of Corporate Communications for the Nissan Los Angeles Golf Open (now the PGA Tour’s Genesis Open), where he served for eight years, including the year the Open credentialed Eldrick “Tiger” Woods for his first professional tournament as an amateur. 

In 1994, when Levey started IEM, the Nissan LA Open/ Nissan Corporation was one of company’s first clients.  From there, Levey sought out to streamline the way local, regional and national philanthropies could raise money by staging high-end charity golf tournaments and captivate donors.  In addition, the marketing and public relations arm of IEM serves as a resource for both non-profits and corporations to amplify their key messages through community-based promotions, product launches and social media campaigns.

When not busy assisting a non-profit client, Levey enjoys spending time with his wife Carol and his two children Alexandra and Joshua, who, as a family, have their roots firmly planted in supporting their community one birdie at a time!
